We are often asked about principles of the vacuum clamping system and clarification of the functionality of our B3  VacuSystem. So let us get a little bit deeper into theory this time.

Vacuum simply is a space without any sign of matter. Word coming from Latin = emptiness. Formula to calculate vacuum is Pressure = Force/Area. There are several degrees of vacuum splitted by intensity. For us is the most important level – HV = High Vacuum. 

To generate vacuum is recognised 3 main principles – Vacuum ejectors, Vacuum displacement pumps or Vacuum kinetic pumps.

According to our B3 Worx team experience pumps can be very powerful, but also very expensive with big maintenance costs. In our B3 VacuSystem we use specially designed vacuum ejector, which is highly efficient, easy to handle and with almost no maintenance costs.

B3 WORX - B3 VacuControl

Vacuum ejector is working on a venturi nozzle principle (accelerating and receiving nozzles) and for that you need to be connected to compressed air distribution system. Compressed air is accelerated through the nozzle and generates suction effect in a gap between both nozzles. 

Main advantages of this system are high vacuum level up to -0,98 bar with small flow rate, wear-free, low weight, fast response and compact design.

Only you need to keep an eye on is proper suction on the B3 VacuPlate grid.

Vacuum clamping is very useful and new coming trend to CNC community because of its advantages. Suitable parts like wide, thin, flexible or not ordinary shaped can be very quickly prepared for machining. High level of repeatability, precision and customization is a great addition to a standard vice machining setups.
